Terex provides environmental management services with specialization in contaminant hydrogeology and regulatory liaison. Our core services include site assessment, remediation, industrial decommissioning, and site liability assessment and reduction.
As a progressive, well respected company, Terex is known for industry leading customer service. Strong referrals and recommendations from industry leaders continue to draw both clients and exceptional staff to be part of the Terex experience.
Environmental Liability Assessment
Environmental liability assessments are intended to estimate the cost to remediate and reclaim a site.
Liability assessments are conducted for a number of reasons:
- to meet the requirements of an LMP
- to support LLR calculation
- to facilitate property transfers
- to monitor the progress of site remediation
This information can also be used to help clients identify and prioritize their liability reduction opportunities. Terex is skilled in acquiring Phase I information, conducting Phase II investigations, and calculating projected Phase III costs in accordance with AER and Alberta Environment and Parks requirements. Our liability assessments provide clear, concise information so that clients can make informed and timely decisions.
Environmental Site Assessment
Environmental site assessments provide current information regarding soil and groundwater quality. This information can be used to support the development of liability assessments or environmental management plans, which may include soil and groundwater remediation.
The Terex staff of hydrogeologists, agrologists, engineers and environmental scientists have the education and experience to conduct investigations to meet or exceed standards required by Alberta Environment and Parks or the AER.
Clients often select Terex to prepare groundwater monitoring and soil monitoring proposals in support of their EPEA operating approvals. Through the implementation of these programs over the years, Terex is able to petition on behalf of our clients for scientifically and fiscally sound revisions to operating approval requirements.
Soil and Groundwater Remediation
Advanced education, awareness of developing practices, and depth of experience make Terex a sound choice for the development and implementation of soil and groundwater remediation programs.
The methodologies applied are tailored to site conditions and project specific requirements, such as timing and budget. Terex frequently conducts remedial work using methods that satisfy multiple stakeholders such as landowners and Alberta Environment and Parks.
Examples of implemented remedial technologies include:
- Multiphase extraction systems
- Phase separated liquid recovery systems
- Cutoff trenches and weeping tile systems
- Groundwater extraction wells
- Soil excavation and treatment
- Soil excavation and landfilling
- Monitored natural attenuation
Facility Decommissioning
Terex has been identified as a specialist in the decommissioning of gas plants and related facilities. We take the project from the approval amendment application stage through to soil and groundwater remediation.
Large scale project planning includes the careful management of safety, subcontractors, schedules and budgets which Terex achieves through attention to detail. Clear, concise reporting of large quantities of data which meets regulatory requirements is an integral part of the decommissioning process.
Soil and Groundwater Monitoring
Terex has a network of skilled technicians that work throughout the province collecting groundwater samples in compliance with operating approvals, and in support of environmental management programs. Our teams also take the care to maintain or repair monitoring well networks, apply advanced surveying techniques, and complete hydraulic conductivity testing. Our staff are your eyes on the ground, conveying any environmental compliance issues they may observe.
Terex routinely conducts soil management programs in support of facility operating approvals. From soil monitoring program proposal development through annual soil management programs, Terex supports our clients to balance their fiscal, regulatory and ethical obligations. A strong working relationship with Alberta Environment and Parks allows for the implementation of creative solutions.
Soil and groundwater monitoring programs may also be developed as part of a remediation program. Scientifically based sampling frequency reduces project costs while monitoring for desired outcomes.
